We have lots of new and exciting additions to the programme, including an Evening Fountain Cafe, set around the fountain in Parliament Street, and our new demonstration area, which will also be part of our Parliament Street markets area.

There is no entrance fee to the Festival, most markets and events take place in the historic streets of York. Only specific events (usually Dinners and Tastings) are ticketed.

11th York Festival of Food and Drink

The Festival’s main focus is local and regional food and drink. The City is also an excellent touring base for gastronomic tours of the region.- see the Gourmet Yorkshire website.

This year the Festival wants to emphasise its educational programme, which runs in the Guildhall and the new Festival areas of the Coppergate centre and at Autumn Feast.

There is an extensive 10-day programme featuring:

• tutored tastings - delivered by 'Slow Food North Yorkshire' (of both food and drink of all kinds)
• an extensive range of Yorkshire and visiting markets,
• themed lunches and dinners,
• a diverse drinks programme (everything from champagne, wine and port through to whisky and real ale),
• meal deals in many restaurants in the city,
• hands on cookery workshops,
• cookery competitions.
• children's cookery.
• community progamme.

Elsewhere in the city will be food festival events: cook book lunches, roving feasts, ale trails, meal deals, street cooking and street food from curry stalls and juice bars to soup kitchens and hog roasts.
